Osteopathy is a manual therapy technique used to stretch, mobilise, reposition, balance and get you back on the move. It is based on the principle that the wellbeing of an individual depends on their bones, muscles, ligaments and connective tissue functioning smoothly together.
Back on the Move is a friendly, professional and caring team who treat and bring relief to neck and back pain, shoulder, arm and hand problems; muscle, ligament and joint injuries, disc problems, trapped nerves and more. They treat leg pain and sciatica, tendon injuries and postural problems and their team are experts in sporting injury rehabilitation.
BOTM offer osteopathic treatment together with therapeutic massage, integrated with a range of additional healthcare practices. They use a broad range of gentle hands-on techniques including soft tissue stretching, deep tactile pressure, and mobilisation or manipulation of joints and, as part of their patient treatment and management, they may suggest how to maintain a realistic level of health.
For example; exercises to improve posture, or giving advice on diet and lifestyle enhancement. Their treatments provide natural pain relief and improved mobility for every age group, from newborn babies through to the elderly.
Services
Appointments
At your first appointment, you will be asked about the history of your current complaint in detail. This will include questions about how long you have had the problem, how it may have started, what factors may be stopping it from getting better. We will want to know about the impact of your trouble on your daily activities, including your domestic, social and work life.
You will also be asked about your past history of similar problems and about any other body framework injuries. We will also want to know about any other health problems such as illnesses, tests and investigations, hospitalisations or operations you may have undergone. The effects of stress, dietary intake and impact of your lifestyle on your health may also be explored. The examination will include a detailed evaluation of your standing and sitting postures. The flexibility level of your spine and other joints will be assessed.
Once the examination has been completed and the diagnosis has been made, we can then decide as to whether our osteopathic treatment is appropriate and if so, what approach is indicated. Sometimes, depending upon what is diagnosed, a referral to another healthcare practitioner may be deemed to be in your best interest.
Back on the Move is open Saturday to Thursday, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
